About the room
Sixty-two square metres at the back of the second floor, with a bedroom, a living room with a sofa bed, a kitchenette and a balcony over the garden. There is only one, and it sleeps up to four.
The Apartment is the quiet wing at the back of the second floor, where the family lived until 1974. It has a proper bedroom with a king bed, a living room with tall windows and a sofa bed for two more guests, a kitchenette, and a balcony that looks over the neighbours' gardens rather than the street.
It is the room we suggest for families, for two couples travelling together, and for anyone staying a week or more. The kitchenette has an induction hob, a fridge, a dishwasher and the plates and pans you would expect to find in a friend's flat. The Mercearia Salgado round the corner will deliver a basket if you give Rui a list.
The living room has a dining table that seats six, a record player with a shelf of Portuguese records, and shelves of books that were left by guests over the years and kept. There is one bathroom, with a bath and a shower, and a second toilet by the front door.

What the 360 view shows
The balcony doors
Tall glass doors open onto the balcony, which has two chairs and a view over the gardens. The evening sun arrives at about six in summer.
The dining table
A long table that seats six. It is where guests tend to end up, with a bottle from the bar and the record player on low.
The living room
The living room and kitchenette are a single open space, with the sofa bed at the far end and the kitchen along the side wall.
The room at seven in the morning and seven in the evening
7 am
At seven the balcony doors are the brightest thing in the flat. The kettle is on the counter, there is bread in the basket by the door that Rui leaves at half past six, and nothing to do until you decide there is.
7 pm
At seven somebody has usually started cooking. The table is laid, a window is open onto the gardens, and from the balcony you can hear the first guitar of the evening starting up in a house further down the hill.

Weekday rates for the The Apartment: low season €410, mid season €492, high season €574, festive dates €615. Friday and Saturday nights cost 10 percent more, shown in terracotta. Stays of five nights or more take 5 percent off, and seven nights or more 10 percent.
Darker squares are busier seasons. A night marked Full has no room of this kind left. Prices are in euros, per room per night, with breakfast included. City tax is added at the end.
