About the room

Thirty-eight square metres on the third floor, with a king bed, a daybed, a wall of steel-framed glass and a private terrace of twelve square metres. For long stays and for people who like to spread out.

There are two Terrace Suites, side by side on the third floor. Each one has its own terrace, twelve square metres of stone floor with two chairs, a low table and pots of rosemary and bay that the kitchen is welcome to borrow from. The terrace is screened from its neighbour by a wall of climbing jasmine, which smells wonderful in June.

Inside, a steel-framed glass wall slides open to the terrace and fills the room with light until late afternoon. The king bed is at one end, with a daybed by the glass for reading or for a third guest. A small wood stove stands in the corner, and Rui will lay a fire at turn-down between November and March if you would like one.

The bathroom is big, with a double basin, a walk-in shower and a deep stone bath. The floor is warm underfoot all year. If you are staying more than a few nights, this is the room that begins to feel like your own flat.

Look around

A 360 degree view you can drag, or turn with the arrow keys. A 360 view of a comparable room, shown here as an illustration.

A sunny living space with a sofa, a yellow armchair, a monstera leaf and long curtains beside a tall window.

What the 360 view shows

The bed

The bed has a linen cover in pale green and a pile of cushions. The daybed beside it makes up as a single bed for a third guest.

The glass wall

The steel-framed glass slides open to the terrace. A thin curtain softens the light and a heavier one makes the room dark.

The dining table

A table for four, with a bowl of fruit that is renewed each morning. Breakfast can be brought here if you do not feel like going downstairs.

The room at seven in the morning and seven in the evening

7 am

At seven the glass wall is already warm and the whole room is full of low sun. Open it, carry your coffee out, and the terrace is yours until the neighbours come out for theirs.

7 pm

At seven the terrace is the best seat in the house. The jasmine smells strongest at this hour, the church bells start from somewhere below, and the sky over the river goes through every colour it owns.
